What we do

Simplicity is a small family business based in Leicestershire that specialises in bespoke joinery, bifold doors and bespoke windows and doors. With over 20 years’ experience in the field, Simplicity is expert at producing truly unique glazed timber folding doors that will blend seamlessly into your home. Simplicity’s bespoke design philosophy means that it can craft the most distinctive of designs, from gentle bends to dramatic convex or concave curves, all using efficient glazing to suit your project, whatever it may be.

Everything we create is unique – in fact, we’ve never made the same item twice; and that’s because we want our pieces to be as individual as your home deserves. Our British company hand-makes everything at our workshop – tailored design and clever solutions are at the heart of what we do. We pride ourselves on pushing the boundaries for what is considered architecturally possible with folding sliding doors, and enjoy the challenge of creating one-of-a-kind designs.

All of our doors and frames are made to last from sustainably-sourced timber, and finished with a quality coating system that can be colour matched to any hue you require. We work directly with each of our customers, ensuring we find them the right solution for even the toughest of builds and tightest of spaces. Simplicity will discuss your requirements and any design ideas you may have or can work direct from your architect’s drawings – we will customise our service to suit your needs.

Meet Simplicity’s founder and owner, Richard Clarke

I am a self-taught woodworker with a fascination for timber, from the way it looks to how it moves and misbehaves. I started my career at an artisan garden room company, beginning at entry level with no experience, working my way up to become a director of the firm.

With 15 years of knowledge under my belt, and having gained a broad understanding of timber, bifold door gearing and glass, I decided to start my own company in November 2004. Simplicity was established so that I could create unique products that would complete people’s homes in the style they deserve. My love for this craft strengthens itself with each passing year and each specialised project I am fortunate enough to be involved in.

We’re proud to be a small family business, and are even prouder of our handcrafted bespoke joinery. We create bespoke curved, corner-less and straight bi-fold door systems using our enviable knowledge of timber and folding sliding door gearing, combined with a passion for bespoke design. We’re delighted to be able to offer our customers the highest level of experience, combined with technical knowledge, skills and passion for unique designs.

As we are a truly bespoke company, we are not limited by the number of timbers, glazed unit specifications, door or window furniture options or colour finishes. We offer free personal and professional consultations and are happy to work closely with you, your architect or your builder to ensure you get the best possible service.
