Environment

High quality materials come as standard with Simplicity – that’s because we appreciate the importance of natural materials and recognise our responsibility to the environment. That’s why we endeavour to obtain everything we use from sustainable, eco conscious sources.

Sourcing wood

All of the timber we use is sourced from suppliers that demonstrate responsible purchasing polices and show commitment to legally sourced timber. The wood we use comes exclusively from companies that are FSC an PEFC certified.

  • FSC – The Forest Stewardship Council is an International non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting responsible forestry. Through forest management principles and a transparent chain of custody, the FSC’s system means we can identify, purchase and use wood that we know comes from well-managed, sustainable forests.
  • PEFC – The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) through independent third-party certification. This means we can ensure the timber we purchase is from sustainable forests that are managed in an ethical, fair and eco-conscious manner.

 

Glazing

All our glass is sourced from an environmentally conscious supplier, certified to ISO 14001; an international environmental management standard. This means we know that the glazing used in all our products is of the best possible standard in terms of quality and energy efficiency – so your home will be kept as safe and warm as possible.

Accoya

Simplicity is proud to be recognised by Accsys Technologies as an Official Joinery Manufacturer of Accoya. Accoya is a timber that’s modified by wood acetylation, a process that has been studied by scientists for more than 75 years and proven to be an outstanding method of improving the properties of wood – making it more durable than some of the world’s hardiest timber species. Guaranteed for 50 years above ground, combined with fantastic stability and thermal properties, Accoya is 100% environmentally friendly and non-toxic – in fact, it is 100% recyclable and can be disposed of in exactly the same way as unmodified wood.

Waste

Caring about the environment comes hand in hand with caring about how we handle the bi-products of our production. The clean timber waste produced by Simplicity is simply offcuts from the manufacture of our bespoke joinery, which we use for our own heating requirements. The clean sawdust and shavings created are supplied to local stables and farms where they are put to good use for animals and agriculture.
